Obviously the work of the state:

Yes, I’m wearing my Murray Rothbard: Enemy of the State T-shirt today, why do you ask?…

This woman was held by government authorities, shackled, and imprisoned for staying a few days late on a previous vacation to the US from Iceland. She came back recently to go shopping in New York. You can read the whole story of her experience on her blog.

Which is worse: wrongly accusing peace-loving individuals and subjecting them to this kind of treatment with no apology or accountability, or failing to catch an illegal crossing the border? The very idea that we would sacrifice liberty for the sake of security is reprehensible to me. I’d rather live with risk, than accept anyone going through this kind of abuse.

But that’s probably because I’m not so terribly attached to this world. To those Christians who would respond otherwise, consider how attached you are, and whether that attachment is appropriate for a follower of Christ.
